Robert Esposito has spent more than a decade assisting nonprofit organizations advance the missions of their institutions throughout the Northeast corridor and nationally. He is founder and President of Robert Esposito Communications and Development, Inc., whose practice focuses solely on helping nonprofit organizations leverage limited resources to meet their institutional goals.

With extensive experience and formal education in business, Robert began working in the independent sector as an Economic Analyst for the Environmental Defense Fund in New York in 1989. Returning to Philadelphia, Robert joined the Medical Center Development Office of the University of Pennsylvania as the Director of Operations and Finance, where he developed and implemented the systems and operations needed to support a sophisticated development department as it embarked upon a $200 million capital campaign.

Since 1992, he has worked with more than 80 local and national clients to raise millions of dollars in public and private support. During that time he has written more than 500 grant proposals to public and private funders with an overall success rate of more than 80% funded. Through client assignments, conferences and workshops, he has trained over 5,000 nonprofit professionals in internal/external communications, grant proposal writing, marketing and fund raising. As a consultant, Robert has built and managed teams of professionals, technical and non-technical staff, and consultants to design, develop and implement over 350 projects.

Robert frequently serves in interim senior-level development positions for organizations in transition or in the process of conducting executive searches. In such roles he has led the development departments of organizations including the AIDS Consortium of Philadelphia, the Greater Germantown Housing Development Corporation, the AIDS Information Network, CHOICE, the National Museum of American Jewish History, the National Center for Educational Alliances, and the Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations. Robert brings expertise in several areas to both interim-staff and project assignments: nonprofit communications and writing, strategic planning, corporate and foundation relations, as well as assessing and improving development operations. Robert's emphasis is always on institutional advancement that strategically integrates communications, management, marketing, and resource development capacities.

Robert took his undergraduate training at Amherst College and Oxford University, receiving a B.A. in English from the former. He received a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
